AP Cabinets Celestial Dilemma...

Updated: May 28 2004, 05:30am hrs
Its been close to a week since Dr YS Rajasekharas cabinet took oath of office and secrecy but more than over 50 per cent of these ministers are yet are to take charge.

As on date, only about ten ministers, apart from the chief minister himself, have occupied their respective offices in the Andhra Pradesh secretariat.

Sounds strange but when eavesdropper went about asking why this was the case, the reason had something to do with the position of celestial objects and not on account of some factional differences within the Congress Party in the state!

It is learnt that they are all waiting for dasami (an auspicious day), which falls on May 29. Meanwhile, the ministers are attending to official work and hold review meetings from government guest houses.

...And The TRS Dilemma
Did Prime Minister Manmohan Singh have unity of Andhra Pradesh in mind when he offered the shipping portfolio to Telangana Rashtra Samithi chairman Chandrashekhar Rao

Considering Mr Rao comes from the landlocked Telangana region and would have had to invest in the development of Vizag port as shipping minister, the Prime Minister may have thought this is a good idea of creating a stake in APs unity for Mr Rao!

Land values have been rising in Vizag in the hope that it will replace Hyderabad as the new destination for Andhra business in the event of a separation. Maybe Mr Rao thought through this which is why he seemed so uncharacteristically relieved to be relieved of the portfolio and hand it over to his DMK brothers, as he put it!
