Android One moves into top gear

Meanwhile, new smartphones based on Googles much talked about Android One programme have started showing up in the market place. Domestic handset maker Karbonn has debuted its Sparkle V phone, powered by the Google operating system. Besides Karbonn, Micromax and Spice are the other two partners selected by Google for its Android One programme in India. Basically, the differentiation in their offerings would be minimal from software perspective but hardware and price-level differentiation will be the factors these three will compete on with each other .

Back to the Karbonn device. This Rs 6,399-a-piece device promises to bring high-performance, low-cost Android experience to the consumers here. Karbonn Sparkle V promises to enable the users enjoy the latest version of Android with guaranteed software upgrades immediately after release, latest hardware specs and a wide range of customised apps. Available on, the device has been especially designed for Android One software for a seamless user experience and efficient battery use.

In terms of the build, the Sparkle V comes across as a sturdy device. Theres an attractive 11.43 cm (4.5-inch) FWVGA IPS display, which gives the users good viewing angles to browse even in direct sunlight. The phone is available in four colour variantsMagnum Blue, Mild Grey, Wild Red and Pearl White. It is powered by Android KitKat 4.4 OS. Theres 1 GB RAM and 4 GB of internal storage; external memory goes upto 32 GB. The phone is powered by a 1.3 GHz Quad Core processor for fast multitasking, it has dual SIM support too, not to mention a decent 1700 mAh battery, which is powerful enough to last you for 48 hours of moderate to heavy use.

The Sparkle V smartphone keeps the users connected with a range of networking options like A-GPS, Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi router, USB support, E-Compass and power saver options.
