The state government is developing a model village for conservation of its heritage. The project is being jointly funded by the Centre and the state. The Centre has given a grant of Rs 6.5 crore for the project, and the state has decided to pool in an equal amount.
This project is being executed through the Punjab heritage and tourism promotion board. Talking to FE, board officials said the project will be run by a management partner, which will share revenue with the university. The management partner is being selected through Punjab infrastructure development board (PIDB).
Board officials say that the objective of developing a heritage village is to showcase the traditional crafts and the rural ways of living.
