"We have invited representatives from all the national parties to discuss issues relating to the implementation of NREGA on Wednesday. I had given an assurance for convening this meeting in the last budget session of Parliament," minister for rural development C P Joshi said.
Joshi said feedback and suggestions from political parties would be taken into consideration to make implementation of the ambitious scheme more effective.
Several parliamentarians had raised concerns over the implementation of NREGA programme during the budget session.
There has been complaints from various states about irregularities in the implementation of NREGA, including payment of wage and issuing of job cards to beneficiaries, under the Act. The ministry has received more than 400 complaints in this regard from various states.
Joshi had recently said while addresing a workshop here that there were doubts in "everybody's mind, including in Parliament", that NREGA was not functioning the way it should be.
