Alcatel Bags Euro 65 M GSM Equipment Order From BSNL

French telecom equipment manufacturer Alcatel has won an order from Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) to supply GSM (Global System for Mobile Communication) equipment for the latters network expansion in Western India including Gujarat, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Chattisgarh.

Alcatel has received the order valued at about 65 million euros through government-owned telecom equipment provider ITI Ltd, which has been front-ending the bid for the project. ITI receives preferred partner treatment from BSNL.

Alcatel also announced a long-term collaboration pact with ITI for the production and deployment in India of Evolium a latest generation GSM solution to meet the growing demand for mobile solutions in the country.
