Akshay Kumar-Tamannaah Bhatia starrer ‘Entertainment’ has made decent box office collections over the opening weekend. The film generated Rs 36.69 crore in the domestic market in the first three days at box office but far behind the year’s biggest hit Salman Khan’s ‘Kick’, which did Rs 83.83 crore business in the opening weekend.
However, ‘Entertainment’ has been successful enough to become the eighth highest opening weekend grosser in 2014 after Salman Khan’s ‘Kick’, ‘Jai Ho’ (Rs 60.68 crore), ‘Ek Villain’ (Rs 50.70 crore), ‘Gunday’ (Rs 43.93 crore), ‘Holiday – A Soldier Is Never Off Duty’ (Rs 41.32 crore), ‘Humshakals’ (Rs 40.13) and ‘2 States’ (Rs 38.06 crore).
In a tweet, trade analyst Taran Adarsh has pegged ‘Entertainment’ box office collections for Friday at Rs 11.16 crore, Saturday Rs 11.53 crore and Sunday Rs 14 crore.
Overall, ‘Entertainment’ has failed to beat earlier Akshay releases like Rowdy Rathore (Rs 48.30 crore), Houseful 2 (Rs 42.50 crore), Holiday – A Soldier Is Never Off Duty (Rs 41.32 crore), Boss (Rs 40.75 crore).
As reported earlier, the Sajid-Farhad’s debut directorial venture, which focuses on the bond between a man and a dog, has taken 8th place among highest opening day grossers of 2014 by collecting Rs 11.16 crore pushing popular films like ‘Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania’ (Rs 9.02 crore) and ‘Ragini MMS 2’ (Rs 8.43 crore) to 9th and 10 th position respectively.
The film is also the 7th highest grosser among Akshay Kumar films, leaving behind films like Khiladi 786 (Rs 10.40 crore) and Desi Boyz (Rs 8 crore) and Special 26 (Rs 7 crore). But ‘Rowdy Rathore’ (Rs 15.10 crore), Boss’ (Rs 14.5 crore) and ‘Housefull 2’ (Rs 14 crore) still are the three biggest opening day grosser films of Akshay.
