Achuthanandan wont be Kerala CM: CPI (M)

Taking a firm stand, the CPI(M) Politbureau on Tuesday ruled out reconsideration of its decision taken last week denying permission to its veteran leader VS Achuthanandan to contest the next month Assembly polls in Kerala.

A four-line statement issued by the party after the meeting called for unity in the organisation to enable the LDF to come to power in the state.

The Politbureau discussed how the party should unitedly face the election. The Politbureau will meet the secretariat and state committee on March 24 to ensure that the partys decisions are fully implemented, it said.

The stand of the party leadership comes as a setback to the Achyutanandan faction, which has staged demonstrations all over the state.
