March 14 marks the 129th birth anniversary of Albert Einstein. His Theory of Relativity needs no introduction. Less known is his contribution to the theory of ?stimulated emission of radiation? which formed the backbone of lasers used in virtually every modern gadget. Despite his immense popularity, Einstein lived a humble life. ?Do not aim to be a person of success,? he once said, ?aim to be a person of values?.

Grand delusion
It is shocking that Indian Parliament was misled by the government on the heavy population of Indians in US scientific and software organisations. It looks like we are now officially deluding ourselves about our brainpower and America?s dependence on it. Since the nuclear test of 1998, we have let ambition and self-congratulation overshoot reality. Munshi Premchand?s Nasha should be made mandatory reading.
