A-I may defer agent commission revision to 06

Even as negotiations between travel agents and Air-India continue over the issue of commission cut, there are indications that the new regime could come into effect only from January 2006. A-I, which is spearheading the movement to cut travel agents commission from 7 to 5% from next month, is perhaps willing to give some more time to the agents, sources pointed out.

Meanwhile, following a meeting of travel associations with A-I on Tuesday, both parties have decided on a compromise formula, at least for the time being. That is, travel agents have called off their A-I boycott, and airline companies have given a commitment to stop victimisation of agents, according to Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI) president Balbir Mayal.
