UPCL to set up hydel projects

In a bid to meet increasing demand of power in the state, Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited has decided to set up small hydro-power projects through the private sector.

As per the new energy policy framed by the state government, minor hydro-projects will be set up at toe of canals and bunds with the cooperation of the private sector, UPPCL chairman Navneet Sehgal said after a meeting. It was decided that Non-conventional Energy Development Authority (NEDA) will identify 15 projects and Jal Vidyut Utpadan Nigam will identify 21.
