After making a recent strategic BPO acquisition in the UK, Indias fifth largest IT services company HCL Technologies is all set to tap the Asian market to service its US and European clients.

The company is expected to set up a delivery centre for its BPO operations in Asia, either by way of an acquisition or on its own, an official source close to the development told FE .

In Asia, besides 11 delivery centres in India , HCL Technologies has only one delivery centre in Malaysia.

A number of our US and European clients are demanding delivery out of Asia and are in fact, ready to pay 10-15% premium to what they pay for delivery out of India, the source said.

HCLs Malaysian BPO delivery center has about 200 employees and the new delivery center is expected to add another 400 employees to the company.

Singapore could be a strategic location for the company as it can bring English as well as Chinese language skills, but we are yet to decide the location, the source added.

HCL Technologies has two delivery centers in Northern Ireland and Belfast in the UK.

Our UK operations have about 2,000 employees that bring in eight language capabilities like Spanish, German and French, to our clients. HCL is now keen on Eastern Europe and Asia as the demand for these locations is going up, the source said.

HCL Technologies has its BPO operations working across the telecom, retail, banking and financial services, insurance and media & entertainment verticals. It grew 24.4%, contributing a profit of Rs 107.5 crore in

the fourth quarter ending June 30, 2008.
