A total of 63 cities and towns across the country have been identified for the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission, under the Union ministry of urban development, for sprucing up urban facilities with focus on providing basic services to the poor.

The mission will help develop the urban centres with an investment support of Rs 50,000 crore over a period of seven years.

Additional secretary of urban development ministry PK Pradhan said the cities identified would have to prepare city development plans as vision documents for the medium term.
