1,200 Boeing Workers To Get Layoff Notice

Boeing Company announced plans to issue 60-day layoff notices to 1,200 workers on Thursday as it nears its goal of eliminating 30,000 employees by the end of 2002.

The notices include 1,090 to Puget sound-area employees and will take effect on January 1.

In addition, notices for 240 people, including 100 in Metro Seattle, bringing the total number of workers cut from the payroll since the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks to 25,640, Boeing spokesman Bill Cogswell said.
