US trade deal with Taiwan: 15% tariffs set as Taipei pledges billions in purchases
The Trump administration and Taiwan have signed a trade agreement with a 15% tariff rate for imports and a commitment for Taiwan to lower tariffs on most U.S. goods. The deal also includes a plan for Taiwan to increase purchases of U.S. goods, such as $44.4 billion of natural gas and crude oil. Both sides believe the agreement will benefit their economies and export opportunities.
