The RBI’s three-day policy meeting ends October 7, with markets split on rates. JM Financial expects a modest hiking cycle, while Motilal Oswal projects 75–100 basis points of cumulative increases, citing inflation and currency risks. Bank of Baroda expects the repo rate to remain at 5.25% to support demand. High oil prices, weak monsoon conditions and crop risks add to inflation pressures.
