The Food Ministry has instructed state governments to distribute rice and wheat under PMGKAY for three months in advance to address storage problems caused by excess foodgrain stocks. The FCI has a surplus stock of 60.73 MT, 185% more than needed, and is taking measures to manage it. Distribution must be completed promptly after lifting the stock.
