Starting April 1, 2026, financially stable banks in India will experience a 33% decrease in their deposit insurance premium as the country shifts to a risk-based model. This new system will classify banks into four categories based on their risk profile and ratings, with stronger banks paying lower premiums and weaker ones paying up to 12 paise per Rs 100 of deposits.
