The Centre has decided to maintain the successful inflation target of 4% with a tolerance band of 2% for the next five years. The flexible inflation targeting framework has gained credibility and helped manage trade-offs between growth and inflation during the pandemic. The new CPI series with revised weighting for components is not expected to affect the current framework.
