Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s return to Islamabad from Lahore has been delayed due to fever and infection, a PM House spokesman said on Monday.
The Premier, who is currently in Lahore, “was due to travel to Islamabad tomorrow (Tuesday) morning but due to an infection in one of his leg incisions, he is suffering from fever,” the spokesperson said.
The spokesperson added that doctors are treating Prime Minister Sharif, have said that he will travel to Islamabad as soon as his fever subsides, reports the Dawn Sharif arrived in Pakistan last Tuesday after undergoing open-heart surgery on May 31 in London, for which he stayed there for an extended period.
Many had called it a politically imprudent decision to leave the country at a time when opposition parties were exerting pressure on the government in the wake of the Panama leaks, which revealed that Prime Minister Sharif’s children Maryam, Hasan and Hussain “were owners or had the right to authorise transactions for several companies”.
The data leak revealed the financial dealings of many powerful politicians and celebrities around the world.
