Former National Football League (NFL) star and retired American football player, OJ Simpson is to be released from prison soon after the Nevada parole board asked the court to grant him parole. Simpson was arrested on charges of armed robbery at the Palace Station hotel-casino in Las Vegas, where he was accused of stealing sports memorabilia at gunpoint. The famous NFL star was earlier arrested on charges of double murder of his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend, Ron Goldman in 1994 but was later released by the court on the grounds that the prosecution failed to prove the case beyond a reasonable doubt. The trial began in January 1995 and extended up to 11 months, where Simpson was accused of having physically abused and murdered his ex-wife, Nicole. In October 1995, he was declared not guilty of the murder by the court.
Since then, he has faced countless legal troubles on various occasions of burglary, money laundering, usage of illegal electronic devices and so on. Simpson was arrested for the Las Vegas robbery in the year 2008 and was sentenced imprisonment. According to a report by Times of India, he may be released as early as October 1 this year.
