London terror attack: If London Mayor Sadiq Khan had his way, US President Donald Trump would not be able to visit London or even the UK in the near future. This situation prevails after Trump slammed London Mayor Sadiq Khan in no uncertain terms for his remark (in a tweet) on the London attack. Khan during an interview on Monday told Channel 4 News that the US President has been wrong about many things and his state visit should not go ahead. He said, “I don’t think we should roll out the red carpet to the president of the USA in the circumstances where his policies go against everything we stand for,” as quoted by The Guardian. He further added, “When you have a special relationship it is no different from when you have got a close mate. You stand with them in times of adversity but you call them out when they are wrong. There are many things about which Donald Trump is wrong.”

This statement by the Mayor of London comes after the United States President criticized him for his remark after the London attack that took place on June 4. Donald Trump took to his Twitter account and wrote, “At least 7 dead and 48 wounded in terror attack and Mayor of London says there is “no reason to be alarmed!”” Another post by him reads as, “Pathetic excuse by London Mayor Sadiq Khan who had to think fast on his “no reason to be alarmed” statement. MSM is working hard to sell it!”

Donald Trump in an earlier tweet condemned the London attacks. He posted a tweet saying, “Whatever the United States can do to help out in London and the U. K., we will be there – WE ARE WITH YOU. GOD BLESS!”

While Donald Trump was fuming at the Oval Office against Sadiq Khan’s statement on the London attack, acting US ambassador to Britain, Lewis Lukens was saying the opposite. In a series of tweets, Lukens supported Khan’s statement. He wrote, “It is with a heavy heart I offer my condolences and support to the people of the United Kingdom. America grieves with you. – LLukens 1/3” Another post by him said, “The response from emergency services, law enforcement & officials in Ldn–as well as ordinary Londoners–has been extraordinary. – LLukens 2/3” The third post was the strongest of them all in which when he said, “I commend the strong leadership of the @MayorofLondon as he leads the city forward after this heinous attack. – LLukens 3/3.”
