Former FBI Director James Comey on Thursday appeared before a US Senate Intelligence Committee to testify on the ‘Russian Federation Efforts to Interfere in the 2016 U.S. Elections’ case on Capitol Hill in Washington. Testifying before the legislators, Comey said that he had been disturbed by the President of the United States, Donald Trump to drop the ongoing investigation against Michael, Flynn, former national security advisor, in connection with Russia interfering with the US Presidential elections. Although, Comey did not say that President Trump had the intention to obstruct justice. Comey, who had ben sacked by Trump on May 9, claimed that the Republican administration under the President had defamed him and the Federal Bureau of Investigation with lies. Comey said, “I don’t think it’s for me to say whether the conversation I had with the president was an effort to obstruct. I took it as a very disturbing thing, very concerning…Although the law required no reason at all to fire the FBI director, the administration then chose to defame me and more importantly the FBI by saying that the organisation was in disarray, that the workforce had lost confidence in its leader”…Those were lies, plain and simple… Lordy, I hope there are tapes”.

The testimony, which is considered to be most important testimony in the last decade of the United States of America was broadcast live and was watched by millions of television and through the internet. Naturally, reactions started pouring in on Twitter. Celebrities, mostly American also reacted to the testimony. Some of the more prominent ones have been mentioned below:

Trumps’ son, Donald Trump Jr meanwhile, in a series of tweets, attacked the former FBI director. The President, surprisingly, however, has stayed away from commenting on social media about the matter.
