Iran plane crash LIVE: In yet another shocking aviation disaster, an Iranian plane carrying over 60 passengers has disappeared from radar and it is feared that it crashed near Semirom, Isfahan Province. The flight was en route from Iran’s capital city, Tehran to Yasuj. Reuters quoted Tasnim news agency and said that the Iranian passenger plane had “disappeared from radar.”

4:51 PM: Iran airline retracts toll of 66 dead in plane crash, as per the AFP report.
3:01 PM: An emergency services spokesman said: “All emergency forces are on alert.
2:55 PM: “After searches in the area, unfortunately, we were informed that the plane crashed. Unfortunately, all our dear ones lost their lives in this incident,” Mohammad Tabatabai, public relations director for Aseman Airlines, told state broadcaster IRIB.
2:47 PM: The plane, an ATR-72 twin-engine turboprop, reportedly lost contact with air control during its flight from Tehran to the southern Iranian city of Yasuj, some 780 kilometers (485 miles) south of the Iranian capital.
2:40 PM: Witnesses informed local media that it appeared the plane was trying to make an emergency landing on a pasture when it crashed, as per Mehr news agency.
2:33 PM: The Aseman plane which was crashed is reported to be 20-years-old.
2:27 PM: Due to foggy condition, rescue helicopters couldn’t reach the crash site in the Zagros Mountains, state TV reported. Tabatabai said the plane crashed into Mount Dena, which is about 440-meters (1,440-feet) tall.
2:22 PM: Mojtaba Khaledi, spokesman for the national emergency services, told the semi-official ISNA news agency that a helicopter had been sent to the area.
2:16 PM: Iran’s Aseman Airlines says the plane crash in southern Iran has killed all 66 people on board, reports The Associated Press.
2:11 PM: “Observation by people (in the area) indicates a crash,” he said, adding that he was still awaiting confirmation.
2:06 PM: “An ATR aircraft of Aseman Airlines with 60 passengers and about six crew disappeared from radar this morning,” Aladin Borujerdi, head of parliaments national security and foreign policy commission, told the semi-official ISNA news agency.
2:00 PM: The plane was reportedly travelling from Tehran to the small town of Yasuj in Isfahan province. Semirom lies in the mountainous southwestern region of Iran, around 480 kilometres south of the capital.
1:56 PM: “This plane has crashed in the Semirom area and all emergency forces are on alert. The plane had 50 to 60 passengers,” Pir Hossein Koolivand told the Fars news agency.
