A video of a Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight taking off after sacrificing a goat at the Islamabad airport has gone viral. As per a report by arynews.tv website country’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) may have have given green signal for ATR planes for flying operations, but seems only clearance was not enough as the authorities also slaughtered a goat to avoid any ‘untoward happening’ As per the report, the sacrifice of the goat was done on behalf of the PIA.
After the Civil Aviation Authority ordered shakedown tests of the planes, the PIA had grounded all its 10 ATR aircrafts. The directions had come after an ATR flight reportedly caught fire on the runway of Multan Airport before taking off few days back.
The flight with 48 passengers on board was about to take off from Multan to Karachi when it suffered a blaze incident. As per the PIA, it was decided to keep all 10 ATR aircraft grounded till they are cleared after tests. The statement also said the suspension of ATR operation on temporary basis will affect PIA’s flights to airports like Turbat, Gwadar, Panjgur,Zhob, Mohenjo Daro, Bahawalpur, Chitral, Gilgit and Dera Ghazi Khan.
Earlier, this month, all 47 people in a PIA plane were dead as their Islamabad-bound flight crashed in a hilly area near garrison town of Abbottabad. The flight had departed from Chitral and was expected to land at Islamabad’s Benazir Bhutto International Airport almost an hour later.
