Following US Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton’s fainting at the 9/11 memorial service, questions are being raised about her recurring health issues. Reports even suggest that the Democratic Party leaders are looking for a successor in case Clinton is forced out of the Presidential race due to illness. Clinton’s doctor on Sunday confirmed that she was suffering from a case of pneumonia. Don Flower, the DNC chairman from 1995-97 on Monday said that it was the time for all the good political leaders to come to the aid of the party. He also talked about the party developing a contingency plan. though Flower hoped that Clinton would get better but also remained wary of taking an infighting among the party members, should she not recover.
The Democratic Party rules allow for the DNC to name a replacement but the procedure for doing so hasn’t been specified in the guidebook. Clinton’s collapsing at the 9/11 memorial service in new York was viewed by nearly half a million youtube. Some doctors have even suggested that Clinton might be suffering from a case of the Parkinson’s disease. If reports are to be believed, doctors have claimed that Clinton exhibited classic signs of the disease. Hillary Clinton has had a history of physical illness over the years. From recurring blood clots to Hypothyroidism and various allergies, Clinton has been a constant victim of illness.
Hillary Clinton also managed to have a fractured elbow in 2009, following a fall at the State Department on the way to the White House. Her first known blood clot happened when she was still the First Lady in the year 1998. After her 2009 blood clot episode, the doctors had said that Clinton’ past medical history remained notable for a deep vein thrombosis in 1998, 2009 and a severe concussion in 2010. It was reported that Presidential candidate still takes a blood thinning medication for the same. Reports also said that one of the reasons her condition escalated to being worse was because her continuous jet travels which can exacerbate blood clots. Even her concussion in 2012 was a severe one as Bill Clinton said that the condition needed at least 6 months to be taken care of. She was diagnosed with a blood clot in the brain.
Hillary Clinton also suffers from a Hypothyroidis, which results in an under-active thyroid gland affecting the secretion of hormones. She is also known to be taking antihistamines from the effect of allergies. Clinton’s history of long recurring medical illness might suggest that the Presidential candidate could be out of the scene paving way for a Bernie Sanders to come back into the race. But it must be noted that the DNC would have to devise a contingency plan if the worst comes to pass.
