Donald Trump asks Congress for $7.85 billion for initial Hurricane Harvey relief

U.S. President Donald Trump has asked Congress for an initial $7.85 billion for recovery efforts for Hurricane Harvey, which caused widespread flooding in Houston and other parts of Texas, the White House budget director said on Friday.

U.S. President Donald Trump has asked Congress for an initial $7.85 billion for recovery efforts for Hurricane Harvey, which caused widespread flooding in Houston and other parts of Texas, the White House budget director said on Friday.

In a letter to U.S. House Speaker Paul Ryan, White House budget director Mick Mulvaney also said that failure to raise the debt ceiling, which is expected to be reached by the end of September, may prevent further requests for disaster relief funds.
