FDI and small traders' potection?

The Supreme Court of India has directed the central government to explain how it would protect the small traders once foreign retailers enter the domestic retail market under its Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) policy. Briefing the mediapersons, the advocate-petitioner in this case, Manohar Lal Sharma told the mediapersons in New Delhi that the apex court has asked the government to make its stand clear on this issue. The central government had won a second parliament vote during the winter session of the parliament on allowing foreign supermarkets into the country, paving the way for Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to press ahead with more reforms, including freeing up a cash-strapped insurance sector.
