Dec 06 2012 00:00 IST
The Upper House of the Parliament today witnessed a combative debate on the issue of allowing FDI in the multi-brand retail in Indian markets. Opening the government's line of defence, Law Minister Ashwini Kumar said that the farmers will have a lot to rejoice if FDI is brought in the country. He also added that it will benefit over 100 crore people. He also dismissed BJP's claim that Indian farmers are against FDI and said that introducing FDI in retail is a national imperative.
