Civil services results: Two of top 10 from Delhi

New Delhi : The 2013 UPSC results were declared Thursday with 1,122 candidates being recommended for positions in the IAS, IFS, IPS and other central services.

Munish Sharma and Medha Roopam from Delhi secured second and tenth rank respectively. Gaurav Agarwal from Jaipur topped the prestigious examination.

Sharma holds a Bachelor of Science (Biochemistry) from Sri Venkateswara College, Delhi University and cleared the exam in his first attempt. “I started preparing on a sub-conscious level from Class VI onwards, but never formally prepared for it,” said Sharma. “The main source of my general knowledge came from articles printed in The Indian Express, which I read religiously. I am indebted to the newspaper for the help it provided me.”

Speaking to Newsline, Medha Roopam said, “I'm so glad I have the opportunity to serve my country. Without the blessing and support of my family, I would not have been able to clear this exam.” Roopam studied Economics at St Stephens College .
