Sabbir Khan's directorial venture, brought in a lot of footfalls during the weekend, with the audience enjoying debutant Shroff's stunts and dance moves.
According to Taran Adarsh, the opening day box office collections of the film stands at Rs 6.58 crore. Saturday saw a slight dip by a few lakhs and stood at Rs 6.42 crore, but Sunday saw a huge jump, as the film collected Rs 8.28 crore. All this, despite the ongoing Indian Premier League matches and the weekend seeing the last two days of the league games, before the qualifying rounds begin.
“The impressive weekend business for a film starring newcomers clearly indicates that the audience has given it a thumbs up. The attention grabbing promos depicting Tiger's stunts and trendy soundtrack ensured a flying start for the film. Consequently, the positive word of mouth translated into good figures at the ticket window,” stated Adarsh.
'Heropanti' kept the momentum going in the weekdays also with collections of Rs 4.26 crore on Monday, Rs 3.79 crore on Tuesday and Rs 3.41 crore on Wednesday followed by Rs 3.12 crore on Thursday.
Manoj Desai of G7 mentioned that it was 'Heropanti' that saved the day, since the other releases failed to match up to the expectations. “All the evening shows over the weekend were full while the other shows mostly saw an average occupancy of around 90 per cent, which is very good. Although a lot will depend on the weekday collections, the response has been good and it looks like Heropanti will continue to fare well,” mentioned Desai.
PVR cinemas saw an average occupancy of 40 per cent in the opening weekend.
