New Delhi : Railway Board member (electrical) Kulbhushan was on Wednesday questioned by Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in connection with the enquiry into alleged corruption practices.

A preliminary enquiry was filed against Kulbhushan in June for alleged involvement in corrupt practices at the departmental level. “We have found corruption at six counts in the enquiry we had registered in June. In connection with that Kulbhushan was questioned for more than six hours at the CBI headquarters today,” a CBI source said on Wednesday.

The agency has alleged that Kulbhushan helped a private real estate company to get railway land at Delhi’s Sarai Rohilla at cheap prices. The 16-acre land was identified by the railways to be given to private real estate firm under its railway land monetisation scheme. The land was given on lease to the company for R1,600 crore.

Kulbhushan, one of the seniormost railway board officers, has also been accused of favouring certain companies in bagging tenders.
