MEC has been established in collaboration with École Centrale Paris, one of the oldest and most prestigious engineering institutions in France, and Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU), Hyderabad.
Mahindra École Centrale is the maiden venture of Tech Mahindra's 100% subsidiary Mahindra Educational Institutions.
“Mahindra École Centrale will provide apprenticeship with collaboration from the industry, focus on humanities, international exposure and allied education to develop a ‘whole-brain-approach’ to business,” said Vineet Nayyar, Executive Vice Chairman, Tech Mahindra.
MEC will offer an international program with focus on the sciences, international exchange program with mandatory internship, a research driven program with close links to industry and an inter-disciplinary approach with a blend of humanities, social sciences, and philosophy.
“The industry experts predict a shortfall of approximately 2.5 million employable engineers in India by 2020. That's a mammoth task for both public and private institutions. Mahindra École Centrale will strive to bridge this gap... It intends to have top-class practitioners from India and overseas and offer students cutting-edge facilities in emerging technologies such as Manufacturing, knowledge based services,” said Sanjay Dhande, founder director, Mahindra École Centrale.
