Come November 30, the veteran Indian cricketer will pad up to bat in a new innings of his life. He will tie the knot with Bollywood actress Hazel Keech and the last minute preparations are reportedly under way for a grand Punjabi wedding at a gurdwara in Fatehgarh Sahib, Chandigarh.
Prior to the marriage, the famous ‘Barmy Army’ from England wants their star bowler Stuart Broad to dance at Yuvraj’s wedding. Speaking his heart out to the Hindustan Times, the Barmy Army’s tour manager Andy Thompson said, “Oh, we all loved the way Yuvraj batted and who can forget those six sixes he hit off our lad Stuart Broad in World T-20 (2007).” He conveyed his congratulations to Yuvi and Hazel and wished it would have been great had Yuvraj invited the Barmy Army too. He spoke on behalf of the Barmy Army that, “It would be exciting to see Stuart dancing with Yuvi and his wife in that function.”
Who can forget that glorious night at Kingsmead, Durban where the “King of sixes” Yuvraj Singh hit a young Stuart Broad for six sixes in an over during the quarter-final clash against England in the inaugural ICC World Twenty:20!
All the invites have been made within close friends and relatives circle. The star attraction in the southpaw’s marriage will be none other than PM Narendra Modi himself, after Yuvi’s mother Shabnam accompanied him to the Parliament House to invite the PM. However, Yuvraj’s father, Yograj Singh won’t be attending his son’s wedding, as he believes in God and not religious gurus.
Many Indian cricketers like Sachin Tendulkar, Harbhajan Singh, MS Dhoni, Virender Sehwag, Zaheer Khan who all happen to be good friends and playing mates of Yuvi, will attend the wedding. The present lot of cricketers will be led by Test skipper Virat Kohli. After the Mohali Test win, Kohli made a statement at a press conference that, “It is a coincidence, getting the job done on 4th day itself & Yuvraj’s pre-wedding bash in evening. We’ll get to enjoy & relax more.” However, it has been reported that nobody from the touring England team has been invited.
