Former Indian opener Virender Sehwag who was known for his swashbuckling batting on-field and witty humour off-field, became a ‘Twitter crorepati’ on Tuesday and celebrated it with a special video. Sehwag who has made a name for himself through his unique tweets reached over 10 million Twitter followers at a very fast pace. Even though Sehwag’s popularity on Twitter is unmatched, when it comes to the number of followers, he is still way behind two of the biggest superstars of Indian cricket: Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli. While Sachin has 16.1 million followers, Virat is followed by over 15.5 million. Interestingly, Sachin himself follows just 79 people including Virat Kohli and Virender Sehwag. He has posted just 1583 tweets so far including the ones for his film’s promotion. On the other hand, Sehwag has posted 9,840 tweets.
Earlier in the month, Sehwag was in the news when he acted as a middleman between Krunal and Hardik Pandya. After Mumbai Indians match against Kolkata Knight Riders on Saturday evening, the younger Pandya brother posted on Twitter, “Sometimes in life, people closest to you end up disappointing you the most. Not cool, bro!,” leaving a lot of people puzzled. Krunal replied to Hardik’s tweet by saying, “@hardikpandya7 .@hardikpandya7, this shouldn’t have happened in the first place. I am bade bhaiyya for a reason. Let’s not make this a big issue!” hinting that all is not good between the brothers. “Lagta hai ,’Baap Bada Na Bhaiyya, Sabse Bada Rupaiyya’ – is gaane ko jyada hi seriously le liya .Lado mat yaar !” wrote Sehwag on Twitter leaving fans with more questions than answers.
