You just can’t keep Virender Sehwag down. The iconic former Indian Test and ODI cricketer sees life hardly at all differently from the approach that he had for the game as a batsman, which in effect was ‘see ball, hit ball’ with minimal use of the feet. Yes, he was an extremely successful opening batsman. Now retired, the legend keeps the same gung-ho attitude in his public dealings as a commentator. The difference is that while before he did not comment personally on anyone and it took quite an effort to get him to mouth words on anything at all, now he is not that circumspect and everyone is so much grist for his mill. Not only is his wit sharp and hilarious, he also catches moments in time with alacrity and plays them up for the world to see, courtesy Twitter. The latest to get acquainted with Sehwag 2.0 theatrics are former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly and one of the best bowlers that the world has ever produced Australian Shane Warne – you could say, Sehwag caught them napping, literally.
It so transpired that a respectful Sehwag saw old buddies Ganguly and Warne at their weakest moments in time – in deep slumber during breaks from their exhaustingly long commentating stints. Quick to the draw, Sehwag fished out his camera in a flash and lo and behold, the duo were captured in poses they will not really be proud of seeing splashed all across the social media – Sourav Dada was in fact seen flat on his back, something that expresses pace bowlers like Brett Lee or Shoaib Akhtar would have loved to have seen after they gave the iconic Indian batsman ‘the treatment’. Well, it was not to be.
Here is the tweet by Sehwag-
While the pictures explained themselves, Sehwag did not fail to make a sharp comment either. He tweeted, “The future is shaped by one’s dreams. These legends still don’t waste time in following their dreams. Sone ka Maza.” All we have to say now is, Go figure!
Shane Warne could not stop himself from replying to the hilarious post and he retweeted Virender Sehwag’s tweet with the caption, “Hahahaha ! Got me on the rain break legend.”
