ICC Champions Trophy 2017: The Captain of the Indian cricket team Virat Kohli has lavishly praised former captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni after India entered the semi-finals of the ongoing ICC Champions Trophy after defeating South Africa. Kohli, when asked a question about his repeated conversations with M S Dhoni during the match, Kohli said no matter what the situation is, inputs from Dhoni are very helpful. Kohli added that it was Dhoni who recommended the use of part-time bowlers during the previous match. Kohli said, ”I also thought that the part-timers should be used during the game. Our bowlers were tired and the part-time bowlers did not have anything to lose. The strategy of using part-time bowlers checked Sri Lanka’s run rate, as reported by Jansatta.
Kohli also added that in the match against South Africa during the Champions Trophy, which India won, it was Dhoni who had guided him on field setting. In an interview to BCCI TV earlier this year in January, Kohli said ”Dhoni guided me when I initially started playing international cricket. He gave me the opportunity and the time to become a better cricketer”.
Before becoming the captain of the cricket team, Virat Kohli had said that it won’t be an easy task for him to replace Dhoni. Kohli said ”It won’t be easy to fill Dhoni’s shoes, the word that I associate with him is captain. One cannot think of him in any other way. He will always be the captain for me”. India will play against Bangladesh in the Champions Trophy on June 15.
