The Rio Olympics organizers have threatened to cancel Sport Minister Vijay Goel’s accredition for the games, after the latter and his entourage visited areas that were off bounds and pushed the security in order to pave the way for their Minister. Soon after this made headlines, Goel tweeted that they were duly following the rules and regulations and have followed all protocols. We are committed to the spirit of Olympics and back our Indian players, tweeted the Minister.
In a letter addressed to India’s chef de mission Rakesh Gupta, Sarah Peterson, continental manager of the Rio 2016 Organising Committee wrote that the there had been multiple reports of Vijay Goel trying to enter accredited venues with unaccredited individuals. She added that when the staff tried to stop them, the Minister;s security personnels became aggressive nad pushed the former. “Should our protocol team be made aware of further examples of this type of behaviour, the accreditation of your Minister for Sports will be cancelled,” wrote Peterson
While the Minister has justified his stance, Twitter went abuzz about the incident. Here are a few reactions to it:

@VijayGoelBJP You are going the Smriti Irani way. You want to stay in News. You should mend your ways, focus on work or risk sacking.
