Cheteshwar Pujara and Murali Vijay have put on 185 runs partnership to help India comeback in the Test match against England during the third day’s play at Rajkot on Friday. While Vijay was batting at 103 runs off 260 deliveries, Pujara was on 107 runs off 170 balls during the 86th over of the day’s play.
Gautam Gambhir was the first to go on the day after scoring a reasonable 29 runs. He had put 68 runs partnership for the first wicket with Murali Vijay before getting leg before to Stuart Broad. On Thursday, England had declared their first innings at 537 runs, with help of strong batting display to secure an upper hand against the hosts.
Ben Stokes, Joe Root and Moeen Ali contributed with centuries to help England put up the huge total for visitors. Stokes was the highest scorer for them with 128 while Root contributed with 124 runs.
Ali, who was on 99 at stumps on the first day, completed his ton before being dismissed for 117 off the bowling of Mohammed Shami.
Jonny Bairstow missed a well-deserved half-century as he scored 46 runs off 57-balls which included five fours and a couple of hits into the stands.
For India, left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja was most successful bowler with 3/86. pacers Mohammed Shami, Umesh Yadav and Ravichandran Ashwin all three chipped in with two wickets each. Leg-spinner Amit Mishra bagged another wicket. India are playing five bowlers in this Test match.
