Former Indian cricketer and ace batsman Virender Sehwag on Sunday took to Twitter and congratulated badminton player PV Sindhu for her spectacular win over Japans’s Nozomi Okuhara in Korea Superseries. Sehwag in his tweet wrote: “At 22 Pusarla Venkata Sindhu is a legend. What a player ! Congratulations on this stunning finals win.Most breathtaking badminton @Pvsindhu1.” Earlier today, Sindhu became the first Indian shuttler to bag the BWF Korean Open Superseries in a breathtaking encounter with eighth seed Okuhara. As per reports, both the finalists went ahead to engage in the longest ever match played in final of the championship which lasted for 110 minutes.
The Rio Olympics silver medalist outshined Okuhara 22-20, 11-21, 21-18 at the SK Handball Stadium. Various celebrities and politicians congratulated the star shuttler for defeating the reigning world champion in women’s singles final. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Sports Minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan were amongst the few who celebrated Sindhu’s remarkable victory. She bagged enormous praises from the cricketing fraternity. Not just Sehwag, but for cricketers such as VVS Laxman, Mohammad Azharuddin, Mohammad Kaif, commentator Harsha Bhogle took to Twitter and congratulated the badminton star.

Sindhu, who is currently World No. 4 badminton professional, had also bagged the 2016 China Super Series Premier, India Open Super Series and Syed Modi Grand Prix Gold this season. Her recent victory was her third straight title after clinching the Australian Open and the World Championships.
The win also helped Sindhu to level her head-to-head record against Okuhara, making it 4-4 in their eight encounters so far.
