Paris officially launched its bid for hosting the 2024 Olympic Games on Tuesday, a century after it last staged the global sports’ pinnacle event.
The French capital had earlier made unsuccessful attempts on three previous occasions-1992, 2008 and 2012.
Bid chairman Bernard Lapasset said that they believe that this bid and their goal to host the 2024 Games would excite, unite and enthuse the people of Paris, the BBC reported.
Meanwhile, French National Olympic Committee president Denis Masseglia said that the Games would be an authentic reflection of the diverse and dynamic cultural, social, environmental and sporting traditions of their local communities, the city and the French people.
The International Olympic Committee will announce the host city in 2017.
While the 2016 Games are set to be held in Rio, Tokyo will host the 2020 event.
