India and Australia took on each other in the 2nd ODI of the five-match ODI series at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata on Thursday afternoon. Virat Kohli won the toss second time in a row and decided to bat first. As soon as the match began, out-of-favour batsman, Suresh Raina took to Twitter to congratulate former Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni for playing his 300th ODI. “300th ODI match for India is a huge achievement! Congratulations, Mahi bhai! Sending my best wishes to you for this game! @msdhoni ✌️????????☝️✅????,” Raina wrote.
Raina also shared an image with the caption where he is batting alongside Dhoni. However, the only problem here was that it wasn’t Dhoni’s 300th ODI. The former Indian skipper had played his 300th ODI against Sri Lanka last month and this is actually his 303rd ODI. Hard to believe that Raina made such a huge mistake given that he was among those who had wished Dhoni on August 31.
“The iconic wicketkeeper-batsman @msdhoni gets ready for his 300th ODI match! My wishes to the man who always inspires me! #INDvsSL #Dhoni300,” Raina had written on Twitter back then along with an image of him and MS Dhoni. Both these players share a close bond and were part of the Chennai Super Kings side for a long time.

Raina wasn’t the only one to make this mistake. Former Indian legend VVS Laxman also took to Twitter to congratulate the former CSK captain. “Congratulations @msdhoni for your 300th ODI for India, today. What a phenomenal journey this has been. Best wishes always,” Laxman wrote. In 302 ODI matches, Dhoni has scored 9737 runs, which include 10 centuries and 66 half-centuries.
