IPL Auction 2017: Ben Stokes emerged as the most expensive player in the 2017 IPL Player Auction as a total of 66 players from the final list of 352 were sold at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Bengaluru. Stokes was signed by Rising Pune Supergiants for Rs. 14.5 Crores which made their intentions clear about improving their last year’s performance where they managed to win just 5 of their 14 watches. Tymal Mills was the second most expensive player of this year’s auction as RCB was willing to pay Rs 12 Crores for a man who has played just 4 T20Is so far.

The other two star signings were of Kagiso Rabada and Trent Boult who were signed for Rs. 5 Crores each. Afghanistan players Mohammad Nabi and Rashid Khan created a historic moment as they became the only Afghanistan players to bag IPL deals so far. Rashid Khan would be on top of world after being picked by Mumbai Indians for Rs 4 Crores.

Among the Indian players, Karn Sharma emerged as the costliest buy and was picked by Mumbai Indians for Rs. 3.2 Crores. Young players like Krishnappa Gowtham (Rs 2 Crores), T Natarajan (Rs 3 Crores) and Aniket Choudhary (Rs 2 Crores) On the other hand, there was disappointment for experienced Indian fast bowlers Ishant Sharma, RP Singh and Irfan Pathan who went unsold.

3:27 PM: New Zealand’s fast bowler goes to Rising Pune Supergiants for Rs 50 lakhs. He is quick and can continuously bowl over 140 km/h.

3:23 PM: Darren Bravo is signed by KKR for Rs. 50 lakhs, Manoj Tiwari is picked by Rising Pune Supergiants for Rs 30 lakhs.

2:35 PM: Asela Gunarathna from Sri Lanka is bought by Mumbai Indians for Rs. 30 lakhs. Australian all-rounder Daniel Christian goes to Pune for his base price of Rs. 1 Crore. Rovman Powell from West Indies is signed by KKR for Rs 30 lakhs.

2:32 PM: Mohammed Siraj is picked by Rs 2.6 Crores by Sunrisers Hyderabad. He’ll be playing for his home team. Siraj has picked 44 wickets from 11 first-class matches so far. Rahul Chahar and Saurabh Kumar are bought by Pune for Rs 10 lakhs each.

2:27 PM: Former Rajasthan Royals wicketkeeper Dishant Yagnik doesn’t have any bidders so he goes unsold. Rishi Arothe also remains unsold.

2:25 PM: Billy Stanlake from Australia goes to Bangalore for Rs 30 Lakhs. The lanky fast bowler had an impressive Big Bash league and recently made his international debut.

2:22 PM: West Indian players Darren Bravo and Evin Lewis remain unsold in the second session as well. Sri Lankan all-rounder Thisara Perera also fails to find any bidders.

2:18 PM: Pravin Dubey is sold to Royal Challengers Bangalore for Rs 10 lakhs while Akshdeep Nath goes unsold for the second time. Navdeep Saini is picked by Delhi Daredevils for Rs 10 lakhs.

2:12 PM: Australian fast bowler Nathan Coulter Nile was brought back into the auction after he went unsold in the first session. He goes to Kolkata Knight Riders for Rs 3.5 Crores. Ishant Sharma also remains unsold for the second time in the day.

2:08 PM: Jason Roy goes to Gujarat Lions for Rs 1 Crores, Chris Jordan goes to Sunrisers Hyderabad for Rs 50 lakhs while Irfan Pathan still remains unsold for the second time in the day.

2:03 PM: So we are back live and Martin Guptill finally has a bidder. He goes to Kings XI Punjab for his base price of Rs 50 lakhs.

World’s number 1 T20 bowlers Imran Tahir also didn’t get any bidders. However, the owners will submit a list of unsold players they are interested in and these players will be brought back into the auction. Among the other Indian players, Karn Sharma, was picked by Mumbai Indians for Rs. 3.2 Crores while Varun Aaron also bagged a deal of Rs. 2.8 crores.

1:45 PM: Kings XI Punjab have the highest amount left in the purse with Rs. 15 Crores but Virender Sehwag made it clear during the break that he doesn’t want to spend money on players that he won’t be using in the squad. He knows which players his side need and will continue their strategic approach.

12:35 PM: Indian fast bowler Varun Aaron goes to Kings XI Punjab for Rs 2.8 Crores. He was released by Royal Challengers Bangalore. Former CSK fast bowler Manpreet Gony goes to Gujarat Lions for Rs. 60 lakhs.

12:10 PM: Last 10 minutes have been slightly low, as the owners are now reluctant to spend too much money. Big names like Cheteshwar Pujara, Parvez Rasool, Marlon Samuels, Nick Maddinson and Darren Bravo have gone unsold.

11:59 AM: Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan goes to Sunrisers Hyderabad for Rs. 4 Crores. The leg spinner did impress in last year’s T20 World Cup but 4 crores is a little too much for him. Veteran leg-spinner Pravin Tambe also goes to Hyderabad for Rs. 10 lakhs.

11:50 AM: Basil Thampy goes to Gujarat Lions for Rs. 85 lakhs while Umar Nazir, Pawan Suyal and Navdeep Saini remain unsold.

11:45 AM: Tamil Nadu’s fast bowler T Natarajan is sold to Kings XI Punjab for Rs 3 Crores. He is being tipped as India’s version of Mustafizur Rahman and had an outstanding Tamil Nadu Premier League. Rajasthan’s fast bowler Nathu Singh is signed by Gujarat Lions for Rs. 2  Crore.

11:40 AM: Delhi’s T20 sensation who scored a record breaking 300 runs in a local T20 tournament went unsold. There was an interesting bid going on for Rajasthan’s fast bowler Aniket Choudhary and he was signed by Royal Challengers Bangalore for Rs. 2 Crore.

11:10 AM: We are back live again. 37 players have been sold so far and, now we move to the list of uncapped players. Mumbai’s 17-year-old Prithvi Shaw went unsold, what a heartbreak for him. Ankit Bawane has been picked by Delhi Daredevils for Rs. 10 lakhs.

10:55 AM: We now move to the spinners. And, the first player is Lakshan Sandakan who goes unsold. Brad Hogg also remains unsold. South African leg spinner Imran Tahir also went unsold as the owners went into another short break.

10:48 AM: Meet Delhi Daredevils new signing:

10:45 AM: Pat Cummins comes as the first big surprise of the day, he goes to Delhi Daredevils for Rs. 4.5 Crore. This Australian player is a handy lower order batsman too. Meanwhile, Mumbai has picked Mitchell Johnson for Rs. 2 Crore.

10:40 AM: The next player on the list is England fast bowler Tymal Mills. Another hot property who has started a bid war here. He goes to RCB for Rs. 12 Crore. They had to sign a replacement for Mitchell Starc.

10:36 AM: Kolkata Knight Riders have signed Kiwi fast bowler Trent Boult for Rs. 5 Crores. He was released by Hyderabad ahead of this auction.

10:35 AM: The next slot if of the fast bowlers. The first name in the list is of Nathan Coulter Nile who goes unsold. Aggressive bidding is going on for Kagiso Rabada. He goes to Delhi Daredevils for Rs. 5 Crores.

10:30 AM: We have moved to the wicketkeepers section. Australian Ben Dunk and England’s Jonny Bairstow go unsold. West Indian wicket keeper Nicholas Pooran is picked by Mumbai Indians for his base price of Rs. 30 lakhs.

10:22 AM: We are live again! IPL Chairman Rajeev Shukla is currently addressing the owners and welcoming them. He believes that IPL will continue to do good despite the problems in BCCI.

10:15 AM: Rising Pune Supergiants coach Stephen Fleming says that his side wanted to get some young players in who can perform in big games. They identified Ben Stokes as one of those players who is big match winner. Pune is only left with Rs. 3 Crore so they are likely to remain silent for the day.

10:05 AM: New Zealand all-rounder Corey Anderson goes to Delhi Daredevils for Rs. 1 Crores while Sean Abbot from Australia remain unsold. There will be a 10 minute break now for the press conference.

10:00 AM: Next player in England all-rounder Ben Stokes and as expected there is huge bidding war going on for him. Most teams want to get hold of him. Mumbai started the bid even before Madley asked for it. Sunrisers almost had him at Rs. 13 Crores and then RPSG stepped in. He will play for Pune for Rs. 14.5 Crores.

9:55 AM: In a shocker, Irfan Pathan went sold while Sri Lankan captain Angelo Mathews is bought by Delhi daredevils for Rs 2 Crore.

9:50 AM: We now move to the all-rounders and the first player is India’s Pawan Negi with a base price of Rs. 30 lakhs. Gujarat Lions and Rising Pune Supergiants were in a bidding war and RCB stepped in between and then we had a new bidder Sunrisers Hyderabad. He goes to Royal Challengers Bangalore for Rs. 1 Crores.

9:42 AM: India’s opening batsman Faiz Fazal goes unsold. The owners clearly have a conservative approach here. They are not splashing the cash today. New Zealand’s middle-order batsman Ross Taylor also goes unsold.

9:40 AM: England captain Eoin Morgan goes to Kings XI Punjab for his base price Rs 2 crore. His teammate Jason Roy remains unsold.
