Winning the tournament for the second time Athletico de Kolkata lifts the ISL trophy for the second time in three years, after defeating Kerala Blasters 5-4 after the penalty shootouts. After an entertaining tournament, with both the teams exhibiting spectacular performances, the Kerala Blasters and Atletico de Kolkata, today met for the second time in three years in a repeat of their previous final in the inaugural edition of the Indian Super League (ISL). And as both the team eyed this year’s ISL trophy, Kerala Blasters attempted to avenge their loss against Atletico de Kolkata in the 1st edition of the gain.

Kolkata, having made it to the last four in all the three editions of the most entertaining football tournament of the country, will be playing the finals for the second time. With this year’s win the Sourav Ganguly owned team would be the only team to lift the trophy twice till now. In the 3-years old history of ISL, both the teams had their own share of problems, where one was finding it difficult to score goals, and the other had a vulnerable defence. But that did not stop them from reaching the finals after getting rid of all rivals.

09:017 pm: Another yellow card in the first half of the extra-time; Jhingan gets booked with a yellow card after colliding with Borja.

09:05 pm: As extra time begins, Ishfaq Ahmed receives yellow card for roughly tackling Lara.

08:55 pm: Scores remain equal after the completion of the full-time, as the teams head for an extra-time clash

08:50 pm: With both sides looking equal the game crosses 90 minutes of play, as it gets 5 minutes extra time.

08:43 pm: And as tension escalates with less than 10 minutes left for the full time, Didika kicks a through ball towards the goal aiming the far post. Though the ball passes through the goalkeeper but misses the goal too.

08:35 pm: As the game enters the final quarter, Kerala Blasters substitutes goal scorer Rafi.

08:30 pm: Substitution: Javi Lara replaces Helder Postiga for the Athletico de Kolkata.

08:25 pm: Skipping past the defenders Nazon takes an ambitious shoot, from outside the penalty box, but fails to score a goal as goalkeeper Mazumder grabs the ball easily.

08:20 pm: Sereno back to the ground after and defends a free kick, amid the mix of players.

08:18 pm: Kolkata now down to 10 men in the crucial second half of the match.

08:17 pm: ATK’s goalscorer Sereno injured after an unintended tackle by CK Vineeth and with blood in the forehead the ATK player goes out with a water bottle.

0806 pm: As both the teams gear up for the crucial 45 minutes left in the match, Kervens Belfort took a long ball but failed to deliver it properly to his teammates.

7:54 pm:  At half time the scores stay levelled as Athletico de Kolkata scores a stunning equaliser, minutes before the whitle blew.

07:47 pm: And Kolkata scores the equaliser with an excellent GOAL minutes after the Kerala Blater’s first goal. Sereno scores the goal for Kolkata as he managed to overpower Jhinghan to send the ball to the goal dodging the keeper.

07:45 pm: Rafi scores the first GOAL for the Kerala Blaster at the 37th minute of the game as the team takes a lead of one ahead of Kolkata. In an excellent counter attack, and with a spectacular pass from Mohtab Hossain, Rafi scores the header to take the lead for Kerala in the finals.

07:36 pm: Even after a lovely pass in an empty pocket at the middle of the box, no Kerala strikers came for the finish.

07:21 am: With a lovely diagonal ball, Didika gets another bright chance for ATK, but the Kerala keeper Graham Stack left no space for a score.

07:15 pm: Postiga and Hume takes advantage of the unattentive Kerala squad, makes desperate attempt to score the first goal but misses.
