Karun Nair has made history by scoring a triple century today, powering Virat Kohli-led Team India to a massive score over England – 759/7 on the 4th day of the 5th and final day in Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium. The 25-year-old now joins the ranks of Virender Sehwag in the iconic cricketrs’ list. If his current performance is anything to go by, Karun is going to go down as one of India’s finest cricketers. After watching MS Dhoni: The Untold Story this year, here are some of cricket’s top moments, along with Karun’s achievement, that we’d like to see on the big screen.

1983 World Cup: When the Indian team traveled to England for the World Cup, they were up against the two-time defending champions, West Indies. But team India was relentless with Kapil Dev leading India to victory with 183.

Our pick to play Kapil: Ranveer Singh. Aside from rocking the mustache, Ranveer could use a challenging role that departs from his usual peppy characters.

Tour of Pakistan, 2004: After 15 years, India was back on Pakistani soil in 2004. Not only did India win the match, but it became famous for when Virender Sehwag scored 309 and became the first Indian to score triple century.

Our pick to play Virender: Farhan Akhtar. He’s already got the sports biopic routine rocking after his role in Bhaag Milkha Bhaagh, so he’ll nail it.

Karun Nair’s triple century: Since Karun’s just starting out in his career, this would be one of those stories that focus on his beginnings and would culminate in the triple ton.
Our pick to play Karun: Arjun Kapoor or Aditya Roy Kapur, even though both men are six years older than Karun.

2011 World Cup, Mumbai: Rather than a movie focusing on one cricketer’s life, wouldn’t it be nice to have a star-studded film based on one match? This could focus on Sachin Tendulkar’s last World Cup and the team’s victory over Sri Lanka.

Our pick to play Sachin: Shahid Kapoor. He’s not the first person who comes to mind when you think of cricket, but he’s capable of handling any role handed to him. Plus, it’d be nice to see Sushant Singh Rajput reprise his role as Dhoni.

Tour of England, 1971: As India’s first series win overseas, the team’s tour of England is a defining moment in the sport’s history. Spinner BS Chandrashekhar scored eight wickets at The Oval and India won the 3-match series 1-0.

Our pick to play BS Chandrashekhar: Ranbir Kapoor. Since we’ve already seen him in the 1970s getup in Barfi, he’d be the perfect match for this role.
