India’s wonder boy, Karun Nair, who went on to score a triple century only in his third Test Match, is only the second in country’s history to reach the milestone. Nair, who plays for Karnataka in domestic cricket, was selected after his spell-bound performance in T20s and IPL games. Not technically, but 3rd Test against England was a debut at Test-pitch for Karun, as the young lad didn’t bat in the first game, and got an unfortunate run-out in the second. (AP) This is only the third occasion when a player has scored a triple century for India. Virender Sehwag, India’s only other batman to score a triple ton said: “Yay ! Welcome to the 300 club @karun126. It was very lonely here for the last 12 years 8 months. Wish you the very best Karun. Maza aa gaya!”

Here’s are the three ocassions when Indian players surpassed 300 to script history:
1) 319, Virender Sehwag: Virender Sehwag hit his highest score at Chennai’s M. A. Chidambaram Stadium against South Africa on 26 March, 2008.
2)309, Virender Sehwag: Sehwag’s 309, first-ever triple ton by an Indian, arguablly remains the most memorable innings ever. Sehwag hit the triple-ton against Pakistan in Multan. India secured a victory by runs and innings.
3) 303, Karun Nair: History was scripted after gap of 8 years, as Karun became only the second-ever Indian player to enter 300 runs club. Karun made a quick 300 with a strike-rate of more than 80. The young lad put in India in promising position.
