IPL auctions 2018 is going to be first of its kind, as it is for the time a whopping 1122 players would be up for grabs by the eight franchises. It will be a star-studded auction for this season, with the likes of Chris Gayle, Yuvraj Singh, Joe Root and Shane Watson will be under the hammer for the upcoming IPL auctions, the BCCI announced on Saturday. The auction is scheduled to take place on January 27 and 28 in Bengaluru. The auction will also see India’s Gautam Gambhir, R Ashwin, Ajinkya Rahane, openers KL Rahul, Murali Vijay and the mystery spinner Kuldeep Yadav. In the 2018 auction, 281 capped players and 838 uncapped players including 778 Indians and three players from the Associate nation have registered for the auction.

Again hoping to show his full range of strokes in this edition’s IPL will be Glenn Maxwell along with Mitchell Johnson, who bowled Mumbai Indians to their third title last season with his final over heroics. England’s Test captain Joe Root along with Ben Stokes, Chris Lynn, Eoin Morgan, pacers Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins has thrown the hat in the ring. Other players who will add flavour to the upcoming auctions are Faf du Plessis, Quinton de Kock, David Miller and speedsters Morne Morkel and Kagiso Rabada. The 2018 auctions will also have a Caribbean taste with  Dwayne Bravo, Carlos Brathwaite, Evin Lewis and Jason Holder up for grabs.

Kane Williamson, Colin Munro and Tom Latham from New Zealand will add the Kiwi charm. Afghanistan, too, will see 13 players along with eight from Bangladesh, two from Ireland, seven from Zimbabwe and two from the USA. The T20 league has always given opportunity to young uncapped players and this time it will be no different. India U19 captain Prithvi Shaw, Baroda skipper Deepak Hooda, all-rounder Krunal Pandya and Basil Thampi will fill up the uncapped players’ slot. Internationally, Australian D’Arcy Short and youngster Jofra Archer will be hoping to cash in on their recent T20 form.
