Captain of the Indian cricket team who is also the skipper of the Royal Challengers Bangalore team in IPL 2017, was yesterday seen interacting with master blaster Sachin Tendulkar. The image was uploaded by Mumbai Indians soon after bagging a 5-wicket victory against the Kohli-led team, reports Indian Express. MI, after defeating RCB in the league round today, have booked their spot in the playoffs of this year’s IPL. However, RCB is in a tailspin.
Looking at Kohli’s performance in the recent past, it can be said that the top Indian batsman has experienced a form slump with his bat during the early months of 2017, despite having done so well in the Test and other series playing for Team India. However, it must be said Kohli is returning from a shoulder injury and is still to find his top form. But even then he has not been at his devastating best the way he took RCB into the finals in the last season on his own.
Kohli was also criticised by the critics after his IPL side was bowled out for mere 49 runs – being the lowest score ever in the 10 editions of IPL – in the 82 run chase against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). The dejected RCB skipper, after losing from Rising Pune Supergiant, had said in the post match presentation that it’s for everyone to see we lost that game and it is hard for a captain to stand here and speak after a performance like this. “We are pretty much not in the race for the Playoffs. All we can do is enjoy the four remaining games,” he added further.
In the past few years, Kohli has emerged as one of the best performers both in Indian cricket team and IPLs. Many have even touted him as a successor to Tendulkar. However, Kohli in a TV interview said that he felt embarrassed when he is compared to the master blaster. “It is unfair and Sachin can’t be compared with anyone,” said the Indian captain.

Both Mumbai and Bangalore have been poles apart in terms of runs and performance in the 10th edition of the IPL. MI have lost just two out of the 10 matches they have played so far, RCB on the other hand, have just won two and lost the rest of matches with one being a complete wash out. With Sachin being a part and parcel of the Mumbai Indians juggernaut, it stands to reason that Kohli may well have been asking for tips to do a turnaround. Or perhaps, being the sportsman that he is, Sachin himself may have stepped forward and offered a solution.
