India vs Pakistan final: Unlike the previous match where Pakistan’s batting order surrendered against India, the openers provided a great start this time around. Azhar Ali and Fakhar Zaman got their side off to a quick start. Both the openers added 128 runs for the first wicket and didn’t allow India to take a single wicket in the first 20 overs. When the fast-bowlers failed to create an impact Kohli was forced to use the spinners but Azhar Ali welcomed Ashwin with a six and then also took on Ravindra Jadeja.
Just when it looked like that this partnership might take the game away from India, Jasprit Bumarh produced a brilliant run-out in the field to send back Azhar Ali. The former Pakistan captain scored 59 runs from 71 balls in a knock that included 6 fours and a six. After the first wicket, Fakhar Zaman stepped up the scoring rate from the other end. He added 50 runs for the second wicket with Babar Azam and went on to score his maiden ODI century.
Zaman dominated the Indian bowlers and smashed them all-around the park. However, he mistimed one from Hardik Pandya and was caught beautifully by Ravindra Jadeja on 114. Zaman’s knock included 12 fours and three monstrous sixes. Shoaib Malik and Babar Azam then continued the good work.
Pakistan – 247/3 (40 overs)
Babar Azam – 43 (48)
