Team India is on course for back-to-back second win against England at the 3rd Test being played at Mohali. At tea break, chasing a mere 103 runs for a sweet victory, India were placed at 33/1, losing the sole wicket of usually composed Murali Vijay, who got out to Chris Woakes – edged to 2nd slip and caught by Joe Root. India just needs 70 more runs to win, which they would like to chase it up in the final session of Day-4 itself and take an unassailable lead of 2-0 in the 5-match Test series.
Continuing the already disarrayed batting in the 2nd innings, England lost their last 3 wickets after adding 80 more runs, to be bowled out for 236. 19-year old Haseeb Hameed once again impressed with the bat, as he picked momentum towards the end to score his 2nd Test half-century remaining unbeaten at 59 off 159 balls (both fifties coming in this series); as he was losing out on partners. For England, Root & Hameed were the significant contributors in the 2nd innings. Among the Indian bowlers, spinners shared the honours among them as Ashwin scalped 3, Jadeja & Jayant got 2 each while speedster Mohammad Shami got 2 wickets.
Post-tea, it will be just a matter of time before India wraps it up happily. But it needs to be seen whether England can try out any mystery out of the turning track of Day-4!
