New Zealand will face hosts India in the 4th of the 5 match ODI series in captain M S Dhoni’s home town of Ranchi. India lead the series by 2-1 and the Kiwis will have to pull this one off to stay alive in the series. The last ODI saw Indian captain come to bat up at number 4 and score a good 80 to take India closer to victory. He crossed the milestone of scoring 9,000 runs in ODIs on the way and became the only player to do so with an average of more than 50. Vice-Captain Virat Kohli had led the batting with a magnificent 150 to seal off the match. Dhoni is expected to stay true to the winning team and not shuffle too much. His ability to understand the game and set the pace of the match at no 4 perfectly compliments Kohli’s attacking style and together both can build a strong base from which a good total can be scored or chased.

From the perspective of bowling, Indian seamers have somewhat been consistent in the recent series. Umesh Yadav has been the spearhead of this lineup and has been well supported by Hardik Pandya, who has been very impressive with his pace and control. Kedar Jadhav has been the biggest surprise for Team India this series. Jadhav has been quite handy with the ball and a picked up crucial wickets at regular intervals. However, India still needs to take care of the tail, once it arrives. India had failed to control Tim Southee earlier and beat around the bush during the last match, which led a struggling NZ to get a reasonably high score.

The Ranchi pitch is known to be a little slow, but will still suit the batsmen. Though, it is still a difficult call to make, considering the stadium has hosted only 3 ODIs till date. New Zealand, will be looking to strengthen their middle order which had been vulnerable to sudden collapses in recent times. It has to be understood that the trick to winning matches on Indian pitches in scoring big runs and to quote NZ Captain, Kane Williamson, “get Kohli out”; something that NZ have not been very capable of doing on this tour.

The match can be watched LIVE on Star Sports channels 1 and 3 and their HD variants with English and Hindi commentary respectively. It can also be live streamed on Hotstar.com. The match starts at 1:30 pm on Wednesday.
